CINEMADAMARE EXTRA

Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture, Cinemadamare organised its first “EXTRA” event for screenwriters in spring 2021. A 2-week college held in Umbria, in Amelia, where 20 filmmakers from all over the world made as many scripts in pairs, which were then turned into short films during the summer Travelling Campus. They were supervised by experienced tutors, used the cross-writing mechanism to revise each other’s scripts and spent their days completely dedicated to writing for the cinema.

This experience was completely free of charge, and was a great success among the administrators and filmmakers who took part, resulting in scripts of great quality.

For these reasons, Cinemadamare has decided to continue along this path and that “Cinemadamare Extra” will be repeated in 2022.

GRIMALDI MOVIE CAMPUS

Grimaldi Movie Campus is the on board event, produced by the collaboration between CinemadaMare and Grimaldi Lines that is held in spring, since 2014.

It is the first film school that takes place on a ship. This project lets young people get in touch with movie industry and facilitates the discovery of new talents.

Indeed, students that participate are involved in the production of short films, interviews and storytelling, on board and on the streets of Barcellona, led by skilled filmmakers.

High school students can certificate this activity as company traineeship.

Waiting for… CinemadaMare is the wintry meeting of the festival. It is a chance to bring back together Italian and foreign filmmakers in order to illustrate to them the new edition of CinemadaMare and to collect their suggestions for the next one. After the main evening, participants attend three days of Workshops with the guests and many professionals of movie industry.

Before the first Waiting for… CinemadaMare meetings in Rome, the event has been brought to Vercelli and Erice (TP), obtaining public success.

VENICE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Starting in 2011, CinemadaMare’s final stop takes place in Venice, during the Venice International Film Festival, and, as usual, filmmakers’ main activity is filmmaking, this time at the Lido, which is adjacent to the Festival.

The shift to Venice is free for all the admitted filmmakers, those who have won the Weekly Competition and, at least, two special awards for each category (see the general regulation).

During the presence ad the Lido, all CinemadaMare’s activities regularly take place and they are:

  • Film production for the Weekly Competition
  • Workshops in the afternoon
  • Screening of the best CinemadaMare’s films, at the place reserved to the festival at the Lido of Venice
  • Special events established on the spot
